There is no white hat seo , in eyes of google all seo is blackhat , some stuff is just more frowned upon then other . The only real white hat seo is to have great content and let google take care of the rest LOL.

Ranking for your exact brand name should be #1 with no problem at all unless your brand name is not unique, those weird tlds are jut that weird i dont't like them
