I have a directory site that was a PR4 sometime in November of 2008. Now, when I check the ranking it dropped to PR0, can someone explain to me what had happened?

I am new to Black Hat SEO. I am desperate need in driving traffic to my site. I have tried several blogging and comment posting softwares but it does seem to get me traffic. Any advice for a newbie?
