Automated tool or not, I would be curious as to your process for finding these high PR expired domains. Any hints? Or maybe a step-by-step?

Yeah, you definitely have to check in and monitor your campaign from time to time. The program automates tasks, but it's not perfect.

Does Alexa really treat all links from one domain as just one link? I can't help but think that isn't really the case...I definitely think multiple links on the same domain are counted.
