I agree public proxies are not good enough. But you may not have to fork out lots to get private proxies, have you considered paid shared proxies instead? I've been using sharedproxies .c-o-m for a while now and I have no complaints. Hope that helps at all.

I know what you mean OP. Squid threatened to ban me too. So now I'm using sharedproxies .c-o-m and I've had no issues.

You're gonna need paid proxies man. The VPN you were using has probably been blocked by recaptcha, and the CGI proxy is probably the same.
