Hey Goel, From the sound of it, I would assume that most of those links could be from low-quality and/or irrelevant domains. So, to your question, it is possible and something you can see somewhat frequently. Other issues could be regarding content, on-page and/or penalties.

While a holistic SEO approach is arguably more important than ever, on-page is still important and very likely always will be. As many of the above mention, it is critical for UX and in helping Search Engines index your site.

Going through some of the resources on sites like Backlinko, Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc. is a great way to start and get familiar with a lot of terms. Also, take a look at some of the posts in Blackhat, there are some great ones for different stages in SEO and for different factors (on-page vs links...

I would advise focusing on quality over quantity and building backlinks through manual outreach to relevant sites. Purchasing a high number of backlinks is likely to do more harm than good for most.

I would recommend building links from domains that have a high percentage of US-based traffic, getting active on social media and groups, and include paid ads if your budget allows.

Journalist Outreach platforms are the best way to get these links. Take a look at Connectively, Featured etc. It can be difficult to land links if you are inexperienced in pitching, but overtime you can land some great placements.

I would suggest keyword planner and using Ahrefs/Semrush to do some keyword research i.e. what are your competitors ranking for, variations etc.

I definitely do not recommend it, some have found ways to get away with it but is usually not worth the risk for most. It can be a very powerful tool to assist you, however, just be sure to prioritize UX and edit for accuracy.

It is worth a look at the Black Hat marketplace, but I would suggest looking into paying for outreach. The links are likely to be of higher quality, with less risk to your domain.
