I think a lot of viral pins are less about luck and more about consistency and trends . Simple designs with clear text ( easy to read on mobile ) work way better than over-designed ones . Also , using the right keywords in title / description really matters since Pinterest is basically a search...
Took around 4-5 months before traffic felt consistent . Early , on focusing on simple keyword research and posting regularly helped the most. Also noticed updating posts made a bigger difference than expected.
Good content that actually helps people is working best right now. Search Engines seem to care more about trust and real value than just keywords.
Also , things like site speed and natural backlinks help over time. Quick tricks do not really last anymore.
