If you're serious about IM, stay as far away from that platform as possible. You can use Wordpress, sign up for hosting, then decide on whether you want to become an affiliate marketer, service provider, seller, etc.
I use Facebook to get in touch with friends, hence the word social. When I'm looking to get info, I still do a "Google search."
While I agree that you also need to tap social networks, I still think Google is still as valuable to marketers as before.
