If you're serious about IM, stay as far away from that platform as possible. You can use Wordpress, sign up for hosting, then decide on whether you want to become an affiliate marketer, service provider, seller, etc.

Why choose one when you can do both? Write epic content and optimize it for search engines.

If you want your site to be completely white hat, you shouldn't worry about building links. Build your site, and the links will come.

I use Facebook to get in touch with friends, hence the word social. When I'm looking to get info, I still do a "Google search." While I agree that you also need to tap social networks, I still think Google is still as valuable to marketers as before.
