Like someone else said, Amazon is perhaps the biggest one out there. Other potential options are Wayfair's own affiliate program and the CJ (Commission Junction) affiliate platform where you can sign up with individual companies for their respective affiliate programs.

From what I've seen generally, it seems Google favors certain kinds of page types (product pages, review pages, how-to pages, etc.) for certain searches based on the intent. And that it's pretty hard to beat the existing pages of the established page/result type with a new, different type of page.

All great points and useful to the noobs in here. I found the last point about the gurus especially relevant because that's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. It's also a great filter to separate the real gurus from the BSers. If the guru is actually successfully doing the thing...
