Unfortunately, magic is not involved there - every backlink checking tool functions through search engine bots (spiders, crawlers) that wander around Internet and gather all the information about website's backlinks. As for my preferences I use backlinkwatch and moonsearch when I check websites...

For checking the links to YOUR website better use Google Webmaster Tools or Bing Webmaster Tools, forgot to mention.

I haven't seen backlinkcheck, moonsearch and backlinkwatch on the list. Not bad all of them but better used together cause none shows complete results unfortunately.

For checking backlinks - Backlinkwatch and Moonsearch are 100% free. I am constantly in a desperate search of free SEO tools myself so I will be glad to see other suggestions.

I removed the possibility of commenting my Wordpress blog cause all I got was only spam which was not only worthless but also scared away the readers cause the page than looked really messy.

And another explanation - if you promote the website online and have no idea about coding (except for basic HTML) - you're doing off-page seo:)

Usually you get banned by moderators when the very first post or message you leave is staffed with links - it lets on a spammer at once. You should do everything gradually,an commenting is no exception. Anyway, if your website operates in a certain relevant field you are always forced to comment...
