From my experience google is much better at ignoring random spam backlinks than it used to be i still monitor my backlink profile but i haven't seen low quality links alone seriously hurt a healthy website

For me the data decides if a page shows no meaningful growth after several months despite multiple optimizations I'd rather focus my effort on a new opportunity with better potential

Focusing on topical authority instead of isolated keywords worked much better than i expected once i built content clusters several pages started ranking together

The edu extension isn't a ranking advantage by itself i'd only consider it if the page has real organic traffic is indexed and is actually relevant to your niche otherwise it's just another backlink

for me a safe SEO strategy is one that doesn't rely on loopholes or short term tricks if I'd still be comfortable using it after a major google update it's probably a good long term approach
