Sorry I didn't get your point, can you be a little bit more clear? You mean to say your comment is not approved when you use .edu.au email on US based education sites?

What about the content on your website? Any number of backlinks with no or little content will get your site nowhere. Post interesting articles frequently on your site and then get backlinks. And don't forget about twitter, blog commenting, guest blogging etc.

Most blog owners are likely to approve your blog comments when you use a .edu email. You may also try running CPA offers in the education niche like student deals etc. and comment on other education/college related blogs. If you use it effectively, you may gain a lot of traffic via blog commenting.
