This is not true. I have managed to add my site to those blog directory without placing their tracking codes but yes, some of them requires you to place it. (Not all) I think those tracker are for statistics only. And by the way, this technique really works. I just add my site...

Do I really need to place a tracker? Aside from not able to count your visitors and rank your blog, What would be the effect If I dont place a tracker? Will I still be able to get in the 1st page of G? It will consume a page full of tracking codes... Thanks for the tip btw.
