I always make my first post a sticky on my blogs and SEO the title, keywords. content and tags. This keeps my title from changing and posts get indexed in the engines.

I agree with you on that. When looking at the number of local searches, I'm not sure if it is giving search data that is local to you or to the city/state being used in the keyword phrase being researched. Also notice that with all of Google's apps and such, users can't real-time analytics...

Using a blog platform for your website will get it indexed in the engines much faster than a static site and search engine submissions will not be necessary. You also have the option of turning off comments if you don't want them.
