Once basic needs are met with a little disposable income (example 60K yr in US), its been proven additional money doesnt equate to massive changes in how happy you are with life. If you are miserable person at 60K a year, you will statistically be just as miserable if you made 600K a year...
I work as a liason in large insurance company between development teams and run support and I pretty much do nothing of importance to anyone all day yet make 90K a year...
