The competing site has DR 31 and UR 14 with about 4.8K backlinks from 995 referring domains.
My site has DR 47 and UR 4.7 with around 4.2K backlinks from 981 referring domains.
Even though I carefully built better backlinks, higher quality content, and strong on-page SEO than the top 10 sites using these methods, sites with lower quality than mine are ranking higher. My site isn’t even entering the rankings. The top 10 sites are using a mix of comment spam backlinks...
It seems like I’m the only one being affected—everyone else doesn’t seem to have any ranking changes, and nobody really seems to care.
Even looking at the Semrush Sensor, it clearly shows rankings are fluctuating a lot.
I guess people are just doing SEO with their mouths only.

Up until this afternoon (local time), the site was ranked 2nd, but a few hours later the ranking disappeared.
This site had stayed within the Top 3 for several months.
If a site was ranking around 2nd–3rd place and then dropped to the second page, is the chance of recovery low?
There’s still some Google search cache residue, so sometimes when I search (in incognito mode), it still shows up at 2nd–3rd place.
