Yeah , building some links to those area pages can help , especially if you want them to rank locally . But it is usually better to focus more on the main site and keep internal linking strong to pass authority around . Doing both in balance tends to work better .
From what I have seen , member count alone does not matter much . Smaller subreddits can rank if posts are active , get engagement , and match search intent well . Age and consistent activity seem to make a bigger difference than just size.
