it depends on your site structure. I constantly build branded links to the homepage to pour more link juice into the site. Then correctly interlink all the money pages from it and build more links to each of them since using only internal links is not enough to rank for med and high-volume keywords

I check indexing in netpeak checker (https://netpeaksoftware.com/checker), it checks if a URL is indexed in google, bing, yahoo, and yandex. if you want to check it for google, you will either need to complete captcha every time (since google blocks repetitive queries) or use some proxies.
