I don't think you're missing something. I just don't think the bloggers know what they're doing. In saying that, there's a big difference between 'using keywords' and 'keyword stuffing'. If it's too obvious, it defeats the purpose. Is there a chance you haven't picked them up?

What kind of posts are they? Facebook's algorithm is designed to prioritize valuable content. If your posts are perceived as too promotional or spammy, they are likely to be shown to fewer people. This could explain the low reach.
