You'd have to spam the heck out of the site with ads to get banned. Few hits won't get anybody banned.

Tick the "Turn Adblocker on" checkbox in the settings when you are using traffic starter (its towards the bottom when you're adding a link). I doubt your account will get flagged, just don't do it again without ticking the box if you are using adsense.

If you're going to spin content just make sure its done right and that you double check the content to make sure it makes sense.

Personally I would just try to do keyword research on mid volume less competitive long tails.

You can try to add more formats to your pages. I usually put up to 3 on one page.
