Why can't you just use Tor? There are libraries out there that provide an API for most of the major languages to submit requests through the Tor network. What language is your scraper written in?

Sounds like you've got a bit of rogue code inside. If you've got any dodgy plugins then it's very likely... same goes for themes... hard without having a look though. Have a look at the source for your themes and plugins and check to see for any encoded / encrypted scripts... typical for php is...
