I think engagement is most important thing now. If people like, comment and share your content with time your stuff will appear more often in their news feeds and hopefully that will increase your reach.

It will disappear automatically after some time, maybe few days, maybe a week if people click on confirm button.

Definitely news websites get more reach on their link posts at this point.
