I just finished a film on FCPX and I gotta say never again! I would recommend Premiere Pro, and if you really wanna get an advanced editing suite then I would recommend Autodesk Smoke, even though there's sort of a slight learning curve with that software.

I use the Panasonic GH2. They run for about $600 now on ebay or Amazon, and once hacked, they are great production cameras. Check out the movie "Upstream Color", it was shot with this camera!
