this happens because google and sometimes reddit’s own indexing is still caching the reply state it saw earlier. incognito forces a fresh fetch, so you notice it more, while your normal browser may be showing updated results from cache or you’re seeing it because of personalized ranking.
i think it’s both. reddit users got more experienced at pattern-spotting, and marketers got more aggressive so it feels even easier to tell when a post is salesy. the accounts that win long-term still just sound like a real person with an actual point.
karma helps but reddit will always reward the post and early audience signals. if you don't get initial traction most likely your post will never go viral
for me the biggest long-term change was tightening my content quality and hooks so the first 1-2 seconds actually match the promise of the caption, then sticking to that style for weeks
