I remember hearing somewhere that google does look at website age. I don't think it is all that important when it comes to ranking though. Your better off focusing on pa/da and back links.
If the site is big enough it will be almost impossible to see all of the back links. You can see most of them though. Your best bet is to use multiple checkers since each one will find links that the others miss. Ahrefs, Moz, and Majestic will be your best bet.
