Remember when Google penalised Microsoft because of many ads showing in internet explorer. Thus, Google punished big sites too though very rare to happen.

Article directories are out of rage now. Google see it as low quality now because of much spammy content in those submitted articles. In addition, Matt Cutts didn't recommend to get backlink on this kind of site.

I read that new algorithm of Google last week. I think this new algorithm focus more on knowledge graph, spelling and synonyms. In other words, more on words construction. Just like you, I'm looking too in my ranking.

I'm not sure if my question was ask before. Anyway, I have been doing backlink for years. How would I know if my site is ranking or not, and if my site is having backlink?
