In general, longer posts rank better. But you want to make sure you're writing quality content, because once someone finds your site, you want them to come back. Fluff articles won't do you any good in the long run.

You can also try commenting on blogs, guest posting, and solo ads. Creating YouTube videos with links back to your site is another way.

I use Themelia. It's free and fully mobile responsive, and you can do a lot of customizing.

I've had sites approved with only 10-15 pieces of content. And almost non-existent traffic. Make sure you have some quality content and try to see if you can get approved.

SEO done well will get your website ranked higher in the search engines. Which means, as Google Prince pointed out, you do a lot of work that pays off for years afterward. The more off-page SEO you do, the higher you will rank. The on-page stuff just determines what you rank for.

I would start with something like 'imagine that [your problem is solved and you are seeing this great result.] My company can help you with that. Then go on to explain who you are, that you saw their brochure, and think you can improve their services.
