In my case the images eventually appeared on the hashtag page. They also appeared in the top nine. Maybe Instagram is making some changes on the backend and we are seeing a caching issue or some other consistency problem with the DB.

I'm having the same problem. The problem is confined to the phone app, however. Looking at the hashtag on a desktop or via an service like iconosquare displays the image on the hashtag page. I am not botting, but my account does have a fair amount of churn from follow/unfolllow.

Thanks for that. After reading this and some other stories of problems I've decided against the bot and will just remain patient and persistent. Hopefully it will get a little easier after a while.

Many of those first 9k are likely real users too, but since they followed you via followboom they probably don't care at all about what you post. Like you, they were just trying to improve some metric. So now you have another 6K users who followed you for other reasons, but not necessarily...
