navian's right. i'm a big fan of dual monitors vs. a single widescreen. if you could get one widescreen (20" or more) and one good sized (like at least 19") secondary monitor, you'd be in there like swimwear. but, the first stop for this train is at the bank

You could use photoshop for it, but designer use illustrator for design but adobe tools are expensive. About 600$ for Illustrator CS5 and about 700$ for Photoshop CS5 (full license). For beginners, I suggest that you use free alternatives, like Inkscape (Illustrator) or GIMP (Photoshop).
