Ah okay, is there absolutely no way to contact users that don't have their channel tabs setup?

A great way to advertise your channel/content was by posting comments on user channels that are interested in your keyword. Now it seems YouTube has implemented a new feature where most channels seem to have their discussion pages off by default, is this correct or am i missing something? Thanks.
