I do programming and gaming on an i3/6gb quite comfortably. Unless your front end work involves machine learning then needing 16gb ram as a minimum for programming is ridiculous overkill IMO.
Needing the ram for gaming though, now that would make sense ;)
I know a method that works. Takes a lot of time and effort unless you are already a competent programmer and artist.
