Its not so much trying to find a niche as it is trying to understand the angles you can attack the niche and actually put in the effort to do so. I've found a great way to find niches however it still requires a decent amount of work to get something up and finalized until you get $ rolling in...

Much like anything the trends will change. Yes spinners are definitely becoming more and more popular and yes they still cannot create quality content like an individual with knowledge on a certain topic. But again, don't just pigeon hole yourself into doing one kind of thing on the net...
