GoDaddy's verification is pretty common these days, especially for new accounts. Using real information and a payment method that matches your account usually makes the process much smoother.
i don't think its patched completely. The bigger factor is account trust and subreddit moderation. Low trust accounts or promotional comments are much more likely to get filtered, regardless of upvotes. I'd test with normal engagement first before assuming the strategy is dead
