As a beginner, I think the best way is to keep the On page SEO simple, without overthinking. I feel proper headings and subheadings along with appropriate keywords, will helps a lot. I also write simple meta description and basic images. I feel easy to read content gives better results.

I think as a beginner, simple free tools are enough to start. In my experience, Google Search Console and Keyword Planner work well for basics. You can try other tools later. I feel like keeping it simple is better at the start.
