Driving traffic from reddit is not as easy as it looks

I was browsing Reddit looking for where I could promote my site, this site is not in the NSFW niche. I visited different posts, read comments, and didn't see anyone who could leave links to their site or create posts referring to their site, why is that? I also decided to visit other subreddits...

I've already had a niche blog for a year but I had bad results. Now, after Google updates, my traffic has literally gone down to 0. I don't know if I should try to change the niche and make another site or just try something different.
