My guess would be due to the fact that most people are clicking those links on their phones. In my experience most people buy from their computers on amazon.
Sales is all a numbers game and it would probably depend on exactly what these guys are selling. I haven't had too much luck converting facebook likes to actual sales unless it is an impulse type of product. You'll need to experiment.
The guy who created that site did a few amas on reddit. Pretty interesting and he clears middle 6 figures a year with it. Also, there is a theme called grid portfolio which is pretty easy to modify to something like this. I have a similar site that I started about a month ago.
