I want to create an affiliate website. When I use SEMrush to research keywords, I find that a particular keyword has high search volume and low competition. However, when I check that keyword on Google, I find large affiliate websites targeting it. Can I target this keyword?

Is the requirement for choosing a keyword that it has low competition, or is there a requirement that the search volume also be low—meaning 250?
