I make roughly $1000 - $2000 USD a month, but that’s including selling my custom music service on Fiverr, so I highly recommend you make some gigs on there as well while you build your YT channel.

Your own compositions is the way to go IMO. I do method #3 and I make 90% of my money by selling custom no copyright music at a flat rate to clients. Although I am still under 10k subs and my Adsense only recently got approved so I’m not making much passively.
What kind of terms are you looking to rank for? In my experience you’re better off having your songs featured in playlists or mixes on channels that are specific to your genre/style.
Can you elaborate on the retro game trends? Are there some big games coming out? I make music that fits the retro game sound and aesthetic so I’d like to capitalize on it.
