Some people say .COM is easier to rank, some say it doesn't matter. I'll probably try to go with a .COM though. It doesn't necessarily have to be a perfect match, sometimes keyword<x>.com is ok too.
Just wondering, does your investment include the cost of your SEO guy? If it doesn't, then it's not really an accurate picture since SEO costs could add up to quite a bit for so many sites.
