My goal is to setup proxyfire running 24/7 on my vps. I'd like it to, after leeching and checking is done, automaticly remove shitty proxies and save. Then repeat.
Is this possible? If so, how to do this?
Our definition of lots of threads may differ, hehe ;)
I was thinking like 80-100 threads for leeching, while parallelly 350 check.
Will the $35 vps at xss handle it well you think?

There's no proven fact that some method is better than the other. You simple CAN'T know 100% what is more effective than the other. You have to test yourself and see what works best for you. Trail and error my friend, trail and error.
I personaly don't think the results differ anything at all...
