Link exchange is good but it's depend on site quality. If irrelevant links are already added on both site and out bond link is high then nit useful for site.

I don't think so Google punish your site. i'm also using Pinterest and tumblr this is best way to bring traffic on site. i love pin and tum..:P

Ya blog commenting still working it useful but if blog and comment session is do-follow otherwise there is no use of commenting.
