OP: there's no sense in mindlessly adding content to your site. Google doesn't care how large your site is or how often it's updated. And social signals are a joke.
If you want to get your page to rank you need LINKS. QUALITY LINKS. Period, end of story.
It could be a million different things:
1. The keyword isn't competitive, and therefore easy to rank for with a YT video
2. They built a bunch of links in a short period of time (it takes OSE time to find them and add them
to their index).
Yes you can get rid of them. But I wouldn't contact Google for a reconsideration request.
Just remove the links and wait for Google to remove them from their index. Then you basically have a fresh start.
