Sitewides have bad reputation for gaming the SE... but as with most things seo related... its really a numbers game... and the reputation/trust ratio of the link host sites.... that determines if the sitewide links will likely land you a penalty

Unless your planning for your new site to get filtered for duplicate content, then it seems like a good move. Though one can argue that If the original site gets hit, then its content may not be viewed by the algo as the original or perhaps simply devalued, though i think google's cache...
