Backlink's value is judged by it's organic traffic, TF (Trust Flow), previous traffic history if it's consistent and have sustainable growth then after that you can look at da/dr (optional).

I think the links you purchased from they didn't work on brand mentions, consistent brand positioning and brand footprint. They just focused on backlinks. But that's not the way it works.

To do white-hat link-building, first of all you shouldn't build spammy or bulk backlinks at once. If you do that then Google will detect it and then there are high chances of penalty from google. You should build high quality and relevant backlinks and you should be consistent with link-building.

Before building backlinks ensure that backlinks will be permanent or not. And if after that backlinks got removed or lost then don't waste time on it if the backlinks was not that relevant and high-quality. Just become consistent with building backlinks. Focus on quality and relevance.

Quality beats quantity everytime. One good quality backlink beats 10 low quality backlinks. For example if you get one backlink from high-quality and authority site that is relevant and has organic traffic will give you very better results than 10 low quality backlinks on low quality sites.
