i'd check google search console first to see whether the drop is from impressions,average position or CTR. Then i'd compare the affected queries and pages to see if it's an indexing issue or a change in search intent before building more backlinks.
once a page has enough relevant and authoritative links adding more may have diminishing return. at that point, improving content depth intent alignment, and internal linking can be more useful than simply increasing the backlink count.
If a page is performing consistently, I usually avoid unnecessary changes. I’d monitor its traffic and rankings, then only update it when there’s a clear opportunity or sign of decline.
