Actually Content ID check for music is not that awesome as everyone praises it to be. As to your question, how do you know that you are being picked up by Audio copyright? if the youtube Content ID finds the content it does not really specify as to which part of the content, right?

Of course you can, some TopX (i.e. those who do TOP 10 something) channels do it all the time. Put up pictures and make commentary over them. Plus what the others above say.
