If you're on cPanel you can zip and ftp over as 1 file which will be much quicker. Then unzip at your destination using file manager. Saves you tons of time.
Interesting point. I've never used WordPress for my personal sites, just for my clients - especially for photography blogs. On the other hand, Joomla is much better with few plugins. So much more customizations could be done.
You need to modify your robots.txt file.
Add 2 lines at the end and it should look like this:
User-agent: googlebot Disallow:User-agent: googlebot-image Disallow:
100% that's what I would do. Also optimize your apache or litespeed or ngnix and you're all set. Don't even start optimizing shared hosting packages. You will never get the results you want. Fast page load time is definitely worth the extra investment.
