If you change the dns pointing it to a new host you will loose your email address unless you update the cname on your new host pointing it back to godaddy a 301 wont affect your email address but you will have to set up a new domain name on your new host to 301 to

I think a combination of both, change the name of the biz but keep the old domain name and 301 it until u see no further traffic from it

Traffic and backlinks are always good :) but if ur budget is tight dont go straight to paid services
