Question: [DATABASE OF 7M USERS] How to properly monetize?

Heya fellow blackhatters,

I got my hands on pretty huge database of 7300K emails.

I knew some guys used it before, but after sending out 50K emails (in a day) all others went to spam folder - obviously. They did it like pure retards, got some shitty VPS and just spammed...

My question is, how can I blast this list? After my research I came to conclusion, that Sendy with Amazon SES would be the best fit.

Anyway, I don't want to blast XXX thousands of addresses daily,I am not greedy, but I need to find some "reasonable" settings how to do it.

I don't really know what I'm asking you guys, but I would be simple happy for any contribution, experience or advice you might have. Your personal, or you heard from someone.

The best thing about SES is that it's really cheap, but still has a great inbox rate. It probably has one of the best inbox rates of all the ESPs I've used.

But be careful with your bounce and complaint rates. If your stats become too poor, their automated system will suspend your account. This can happen even over a single day.

So remember to keep your account complaint rate below 0.1% (the industry standard). This means 1 complaint from every 1,000 emails delivered. The hard bounce rate needs to stay below 5%.

From your database, never send to @aol or @aim email addresses. They're horrible and they'll fill your account with spam complaints.

Good luck! Cold emailing isn't the easiest thing in the world.

I was able to create a PHP bot on my cloud server, that pings the email registar's MX servers and check if email is valid. Basically same way those email verification services do it, but charge tremendous amount of money. I check addresses in batches of 10 pieces every 20 times. There are some timeouts on their server as well. I know it works, but didn't have time to run it for bigger list (100K - 1M).

Is there any other approach, which would help me to clear / improve the quality of my email list? I also found out, that some parts of the DB are highly outdated (70% emails are undeliverable).

That's a cool setup! Email verification services are super costly.

What I do to clean my emails (I'm still experimenting with it) is send mail using IEM (Interspire) to one specific ISP at a time. Like you, I send at a moderate rate to make sure my mail isn't blocked by the receiving servers. Eventually, I get bounceback messages which IEM processes, this in turn cleans my lists. IEM is specifically built to send email which makes it easy to use.

So far, I've successfully cleaned Gmail and Apple emails without fail, to almost 100% accuracy. In terms of numbers, I've cleaned about 4M Gmail emails and 200K Apple emails. I haven't checked Microsoft (@hotmail, @outlook and @live) in a while, but I'm hoping it works also.

You're a good coder! And yeah, that's the gist of what I do.

Luckily Gmail doesn't silently drop your emails, so you can send to it pretty quickly. What they do is soft block you if your send rate is too high, so IEM will see soft bounces (from valid addresses) and hard bounces (from invalid addresses). IEM removes the hard bounces and keeps the rest.

You could clean a list of 1M in a week, but then you'll never be able to inbox Gmail with that same IP again.

And I got my database in early 2014, so the emails were created in 2013 at their newest but a lot are older than that. I don't remember the exact Gmail bounce rate but maybe it was between 10-15%... at worst 20%? The Apple bounce rate was about 25% at its worst.

that's a neat approach to validation too I'm surprised your bounce is that low, i have emails ranking from late 2014 - late 2016 and the oldest sometimes had bounce rate of over 70%, but I guess the list is simply shitty, but since there are 7M emails, I still get something out of that

I do something along these lines with PHP

I was searching BHW hard and came across to atom verifier few weeks back, but I thought it's outdated and no longer works properly. Do you think it's worth buying or the creating the PHP function, like you did above, will result in same outcome like using Atom Verifier?

Yeah, the bounce rate depends on both the list and the ISP. And yeah, you should have quite a lot left over. Good luck!
