Hi-

I really hope I am completely wrong about this..

I tried to add a GV # (actually 3) to an aged Twitter Acct (actually 3) today - something I have done about 500 times successfully in the last couple of years.

Twitter msg is: "There was an error sending a text to that phone number. Please try again."

My regular cell was able to PVA the acct.

And, the GV acct can receive a text from my regular cell..

I have had horrible experiences with those smspva.com and similar, so now what?

Real SIMs is all I can think of?

Hey Guys-

For Twitter Accts with GV on them already (not adding new mobile # to acct).. has anyone had problems doing sms unlock since Apr 11?

I assume Twitter will "grandfather" in all the existing GV accts that are already attached to TW accts.

Yeah, twitter doesnt support google voice anymore. Sad, cause it was easy to automate auto-unlocking...

No problems with accs that aleady has been attached to GV.

I have 8 accounts with Google voice numbers attached. I'm sort of confused on the question though. Let me know if I can help by telling you if I'm doing anything different.

Initial thoughts that come to mind: When you first turn on a google voice number or port a number over, text messages can sometimes take 3-4 days before they start actually working.

Also, I don't know if this is the secret key or not: I sign up a new twitter account with a 2nd google voice number. Then I let that sit a few days. Then I change the phone number to my 1st google voice number. I think I can get 8-9 twitter accounts on a google voice number before the number won't be accepted anymore to additional accounts.

Edit: Since 4/11, I haven't attempted to start a new account with a google voice number.

I agree with you, Twitter somehow tracking virtual number and not sending code, my account also not varified due to this, still searching a working way to pv new twitter acc.

@DavisRand - confirmed same today. Was able to unlock an acct via Twitter text to a GV today.

Hoping this holds up and we need only worry about new accts.

I sign up for new twitter account to with GV number and found "Unsupported phone number." :(

Update.. on situation..

for a couple of days.. existing GV on TW accts worked normally. See thread above..

starting a few hours ago.. that all changed.. and now GV on long-standing TW accts are giving the same err msg.

get GV off all your accts guys..

Damn... sorry to hear this is happening.
On my end: I currently still have 8 accounts on my 1st google voice number and 4 accts on my 2nd google voice number.

If I were to think of what possible reasons my numbers would still work but yours would not, the only thing I can think of is how the phone numbers were created: I buy a disposable phone which comes with a real number. I port that number to google for $20. ..... so, I don't have a google voice number created by google.... but this is the only thing I can think of that would be different than your scenario.

Also still curious to know if Skype numbers work. I have a skype number, I should just try it.

praise the lord i just found another free option! just verified one of my accounts! hehehee

@Dark Comedy - Interesting, and a possible $$ & time saver.

Have you confirmed that you can use your GV post Apr 11 on new TW acct and/or to verify your existing accts?

It appears that any posting of links post 11 triggers a SMS verify.

I have not confirmed yet... but, if GV numbers no longer work, I'll try Skype numbers. If that doesn't work, I'd just buy a disposable phone.

Oh agreed for sure. I just also need a temp phone anyway. For me its 2 birds 1 stone. I buy a cheap phone. Use it, then port the number to google voice when the minutes are spent.

@plugmaster

I have tried several of the FREE cell number options.. found by searching google and app store..

They all failed..

Can you share with the guys here the free option that actually works?
