I've been trying to get some clients for my startup, doing web design and development personally until i can hire and outsource. Does anyone know a trustworthy lead source?
Hey Repsis, The answer is yes and no, I never found success with buying leads, But I've been using craigslist and other freelance sites to find work. The Key is finding good clients and treating them well, more than half of my work is now is from returning clients or their referrals. There is also some work to be found here if you are really knowledgeable with development, designers are going to have more trouble. Stay away from freelancer.com, way too many freelancers, and most of the millions will charge crazy low rates. Upwork is a lot better, but it also is hard to get started in. you might want to try review exchanges or purchasing to get your foot in the door, it might be what i do next to ramp up my work intake. Also, I recently started with the craigslist services section, I wrote one well written post with images from my portfolio and some contact info, and got 3 leads in 4 days 2 of them are promising and could be very lucrative in the long run, but this depends alot on your city, your skillset and level, and blind luck, I tried the section months ago and got no hits at all. Perservere, there are actually alot of smaller freelance sites popping up now, you can get in on those early and that could be a blessing sooner or later, less competition now, and more reputation when and if they get big.Bumping. Did you managed to get leads in web design? I have just started to work in web development startup myself, so curious.
